CENTRAL DEFEATS SOUTH IN WEEKEND ALL-STAR ACTION
The Central Division defeats the South division All-stars, Final score 4-2.
It was a game of two halves where the Central team dominated the first half and held a 3-0 advantage at half time,
but the South team was the stronger team in the second half, some superb goal keeping from the central goalkeeper (Adriana Finelli, Vaughan Azzurri) enabled the Central to maintain the lead.
This past saturday the Provincial All-Stars met at The OSA Soccer Center in Vaughan for the first Provincial All-Star game in the Leagues history.
This event was put together to recognise the high quality of soccer played within our Provincial division, and more importantly raise money for the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital for Cancer reseach.
No gate was charged but over $500 in donations were recieved from the 150 - 200 specators that came to support this event.
The league would like to also thank the four Officials, Denise Robinson, Patty Peebles, Grace Iafrate and Marlene Ford who all donated their game official fees to the cause.
The OWSL would like to extend a huge thank you to Dave Donaldson and Walter Robertson for their time and efforts in selecting and coaching the two sides.

In the 21st minute, Latoya Ogunkanmi had a break down the right wing, shot the ball at the south net which was redirected by South goal keeper Megan Climenhage, only to have Heather Gallacher pounce on the rebound and bury the ball in the net, this opened the scoring.
At the 37th minute Adrianna Cataldo fired a low hard shot from the edge of the penalty box to score the centrals second.
In the 40th minute a penalty shot was awarded after a hand ball in the box, Heather Gallacher stepped up and converted from the penalty spot.
This put the Central team up 3 - 0 at the half.
The South came out in the second half strong and at the 54th minute a south player was pulled down in the penalty box, Sandra Sorgini calmly sloted the ball home to open the scoring for the south.
10 minutes later in the 64th minute, after some pressure in the south penalty area the ball was cleared outside the box only to be met by Jodie Williams who fired a 22 yard, rocket of a shot into the bottom left corner, the South keeper had no chance as she was screened from the shot.
In the 79th minute Michelle Edgar headed home the south's second goal of the evening from a nice through chip from Sarah Luscombe.
The south pressured hard in the final few minutes but were unable to capitalize,
Both Coaches were impressed by the high level of play, and the competativness between the teams during the game.
South Coach Dave Donaldson was particularly impressed with the performance of Sarah Luscombe as she battled hard and won 90% of her challenges in the second half.
The Final score was 4 - 2 in favour of the Central Division
